In someone’s mind at 2k, they feel like layup should be far more susceptible to contests and blocks than dunks. In their head, if you don’t want to be blocked go high dunk, but if you do want to be blocked by a bronze chase down badge put on a 99 layup.

Layups need to be buffed they should not require that much more effort or skill to execute

layups are extremely underwhelming in 2k, so in order to supplement that people are going to complain when there is a lack of consistency in the dunking meter when no one contests. The most recent 2ks where layups were a viable method of scoring: 2k20, 24 = different playstyles

Animations are also incredibly unrealistic either. Literally can dunk on 3 people with 1 step worth of momentum. If 2k was realistic, the game would be unplayable

Well, not being able to block dunks at a higher clip doesn’t help. Also unrealistic is the speed and accuracy of how 40 and 50 foot passes go and the defensive player being unaware of that same pass being thrown 20 times a game makes the game Arcady.

Split the modes! For different play styles that can both be competively. Park should be for players that do want to dunk & make everything. While doing and1 dribble spam moves. Rec/pro am should be sim based. Less dunks. Team ball rewarded the most. Realistic shooting numbers.

I think when people complain about realism in 2k. It’s moreso the abilities that the players have rather than the frequency of utilizing them Like when it comes to dribbling. You can’t L2 cancel, Dbook breakdown or escape spam IRL and be effective, but you can in 2k
