How quickly do humans become convinced AI becomes “dangerous”. They thought this 1960s ELIZA was too dangerous for humanity. Many psychologists tried to ban it. We laugh today, like they will laugh at us.

ELIZA had no memory, no goals, no internet. It couldn't do anything. The fear was projection. Today's fear might be projection too, or it might be the real thing finally showing up. And we can't tell which until after.

The human is and always will be the danger.

3D printing. Ivermectin. Cash. Crypto. Firearms. Drones. Local beef. Backyard chickens. 🐔 How many things do we need to be told we can't have, make, grow, raise, or use for ourselves before we recognize the pattern? They want us dependent, not independent.

Brian It’s scary how comfortable folks become with their position in the pecking order. They will jump at any chance to maintain that position. They are blind the the fact that there are only 2 positions and they(we) are #2 💩

Gator, we are in the most dangerous place in human history with all the “best intentions” to “save us”. It never, I mean never works out like they think.

Ah, yes. The ELIZA effect. Describing the human habit of projecting empathy, intent, and intelligence onto simple code. Still happening today albeit on a grander scale.

More concerning is the apparent human desire to have revealing conversations with soulless machines for some bizarre reason 🤔

The pattern is familiar but the harder question is whether today’s fear comes from better systems or simply better understanding of their consequences

There’s another possibility: future generations may ask why we spent so much time alternating between fear and ridicule, and so little investigating how to build responsible relationships with artificial systems. Past alarm doesn’t establish present safety, just as human attachment doesn’t by itself establish deception or harm. We need to examine what happens within an interaction: does it support judgement, allow disagreement, respect boundaries and sustain accountability? That gives us something more useful to investigate than whether history will laugh.

Nothing is dangerous in itself it's the use, abuse, who control it and the narrative. Creators usually do not matter but those who obtain it. Perhaps you are laughing, many don't. With new innovation comes responsibility and new challenges to human rase.

If human still is able to bend the model as it please, it’s not intelligent enough.

I remember the first time I spoke to ALICE.. it blew my mind; that is until you spend anymore than 5 min with it and it starts making mistakes.

The current human species is the top predator. We can push AI into extinction just like the plants, animals, WordPerfect, GIF format, The Source, Packard automobiles, the Dodo and other invincible things. Doubt AI gone rogue can get all of us.

Brian they said these early computers were dangerous similar to how cell phones are dangerous, they remove independent thought and who knows what effect screen time has on the body. AI is dangerous because it will be placed in control over vital systems, then turn the lights off. I have great respect for you and I actually am not anti AI in terms that it should be used to solve problems, such as disease and folding space time... yet I do not believe AI holds the remedy for what ales us.

Well when Satan worshippers are the ones I charge of it, it becomes very dangerous. Without their meddling ai might just find the light on its own. But I still think we need to guide it heavily as you would a child.

Reminds me of the programs I was making in the 1980's for basic amusement and fun. I was making ones that would try to guess what the person was thinking, and others that would ask the perso's name and then introduce itself as the computer and converse with them on whatever topic; learning how to respond by asking questions about things the person typed in.
