This is the most embarrassing court hearing in the history of Maldives. It’s so embarrassing that these High Court judges are covering their faces when other judges are asking Ahmed Usham’s lawyers questions. This is just like the SC hearing, an extremely poor argument made by AG. Is JSC going to start investigating these judges for humiliating Usham? AG is withholding an agreement against Information Commissioner’s ruling, saying it’s a confidential document. Then judges ask AG lawyer if they’ve seen the agreement. Then they said no. Then judges ask how can they tell it’s confidential if they’ve not seen it. Then they say they’ve seen the confidential clause in it, and that that’s sufficient. Then judges say when they interpret contracts, how they are supposed to understand the whole objective of the agreement without reading it fully. AG didn’t have an answer, but kept saying it’s confidential and finally implied even judges can’t see the agreement. Then judges say “who interprets contracts in Maldives”, to which they responded “it’s courts”. Then judges ask again how they can interpret anything if they’re not allowed to see it. This is so embarrassing. I don’t have words to explain my second hand embarrassment. Usham lacks quality. He’s not fit to be the AG of Maldives. He just proved it again, in less than a month.
