Construction is a colossal logistics problem: getting the right people, materials, and information to the right place at the right time. To industrialize construction, this paradox must be overcome. We overcame it by inventing a new type of manufacturing that allows for localization; we call it a Mobile Micro-Factory (MMF). We need to put up a lot of them really fast to make a dent in the supply-and-demand gap (millions of homes, all types of homes). So, we made a factory that makes factories. We call it the PAPA factory. We plan to open 5-7 of them across different geographies, de-risking supply chains and bringing production closer to demand. Each PAPA factory can make 5 MMFs per year. Earlier this week around 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of a prowler at a construction site near K-10 and K-7 highways. Our officers quickly surrounded the area and deployed a drone to search from above. The drone operator soon spotted someone hiding under heavy construction equipment. With a coordinated plan in place, a team of officers, along with one of our K9s, moved in and took the suspect safely into custody. Further investigation revealed stolen tools from a Lenexa business, along with meth and drug paraphernalia. This same individual had been arrested by Lenexa officers earlier this year in connection with another business burglary. The Johnson County District Attorney's Office has charged this suspect with crimes related to both cases. The Giga Texas Optimus Factory has made a lot of progress with ground work, GeoPiers & now the steel superstructure which has grown to 4 Floors, at least in the sender section! This is similar to the main factory construction and I suspect we will see varying levels throughout the structure as it continues to build out. This means that with the extension work to the south to reclaim even more land to further lengthen the structure, it will have a meaningful % of the 11 Million Sq Ft of the main factory, so this is truly becoming a massive factory! A large steel staging yard in nearby in the “lone tree” field & several large cranes are at work actively adding more steel as they build out from the center, again, very similar to how the main factory was constructed. Check it out!

One of the key promises of SMRs is to move a greater percentage of work from the unproductive construction site to a productive factory environment... but what if large modular reactors do a better job of that? Module construction for the nuclear steam supply system and balance of plant containing key components, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc... can be moved to the factory environment in small or large modular reactors like AP1000, ABWR or the most recent CANDUs. Civil works and site preparation cannot. The problem with grid scale SMRs like BWRX-300 & AP300 etc... is that the civil works and site preparation don't scale down proportionately with the decreased reactor output. The nuclear steam supply system and turbine island is typically only 25-35% of the overnight construction cost of a nuclear plant. The civil works, site preparation, installation work dominate overnight cost. Therefore with grid scale SMRs ~300MWe you actually end up with a greater proportion of work per MWe being on the unproductive construction site compared to a large modular reactor defeating the premise and promise of SMR productivity gains.

Tobias Lindh has been providing ground & drone views for over 6 1/2 years, from the very beginning, with the first tree removal necessary for the earthwork for the foundation to get underway & then construction of the factory proper. He continues to provide us coverage of the factory & inspired me to try to cover Giga Texas way back in 2020. The Wolfpack Berlin - Robert & Andreas brothers Andreas & Robert also began covering Giga Berlin from the very beginning & featured well edited and beautiful cinematic drone flights over the factory for the first several years.
