Essentially, the grooves on the record contain the sound waves that were originally recorded by the artist, and the stylus and tonearm work together to read the grooves and generate an electrical signal. This signal is then amplified and converted into sound waves that can be heard through the speakers.

Music is recorded onto vinyl records by first converting the audio signal into an analog format. This analog signal is then used to cut grooves onto a master lacquer disc. The cutting stylus follows the waveform of the music, creating physical grooves that represent the audio. This master disc is then used to create stampers, which are used to press vinyl copies. Vinyl pellets are melted and pressed between the stampers, creating the final vinyl records with the grooves that, when played with a turntable and stylus, reproduce the recorded music.
