This is starting to become a pattern. Many Trump loyalists—& many nonaligned people who’d been optimistic about the new administration—are beginning to acknowledge a growing disappointment. Trump has had some wins. He has charged RFK with fixing America’s rotted health system. And he’s making noises about abolishing NATO—which outlived its usefulness a generation & a half ago. But IMO people’s biggest hopes were vested: · In the ending of war · In the revealing of secrets · In the return of free speech · And in at least some power shifting away from the oligarchic class so favored by the Democrats. The permanent state seems to have had other ideas. Three months in, Trump 47 is looking rather like Trump 45: - Those who were touted as admin picks during the transition—Douglas Macgregor, Thomas Massie, Ron Paul, Candace Owens, Matt Gaetz, Daniel Davis, Adam Boehler (even Tucker Carlson)—but who were not sufficiently enthusiastic about Israel—were left out of the team. - The Cabinet that did eventuate has no members of the MAGA-hatted rank-and-file who thronged his rallies. It’s mostly billionaire developers, hedge fund bosses, senior bankers, venture capitalists, investors, corporate attorneys & professional politicians. - DOGE or no DOGE, the US Congressional Budget Office forecasts that debt-to-GDP will reach 107% in 2029, surpassing the post-WWII peak. - The promised Pentagon audit has not occurred. - The largest source of fraud & waste—the Pentagon—is also untouched by DOGE. All of its 800 military bases worldwide remain. In April, Trump announced the United States’ first ever one trillion dollar-plus defense budget. - No-one illegally raided or arrested by the FBI under the Biden admin has received an explanation. No officers disciplined. No whistleblowers reinstated. @RealScottRitter still awaits the return of his confiscated passport, which the Government now denies it has(!) - After condemning Biden for using bombs instead of diplomacy with Yemen, Trump is now bombing Yemen—slaughtering civilians by the dozen on a daily basis. - The Russia-Ukraine war was not ‘ended on Day One’, & little progress has been made toward ending it. - The Trump-brokered Gaza ceasefire was ended unilaterally by Israel—obviously by pre-arrangement. The mass slaughter of civilians has resumed. (America First?) There have also been… - No Assange or Snowden pardons. - No RFK files, MLK files or Epstein files. (The Epstein List was "on my desk" three months ago, said Pam Bondi.) - No 9-11 files. (Israeli involvement? Saudi involvement?) - No COVID vaccine files (e.g. govt purchase contracts). - No documents on the Congressional ‘sexual misbehavior‘ slush fund. - No news on how Ukraine’s 2014 Maidan coup was orchestrated, & by whom. - Nothing on Thomas Crooks (first shooter) or Ryan Routh (second shooter). - Nothing on ‘chemtrails’, or whatever they are. - No audit of Fort Knox. - And nothing on who blew up Nordstream. Finally, having quite justly complained of the curbing of his side’s free speech, Trump is now deporting legal residents for what they say in public. This is not a partisan attack on Trump. The Democrats were as bad or worse. It’s a reflection on the power of vested interests—on their ability to rig & corrupt the political system, whoever is elected. The principles of the US Constitution are timeless, but its mechanics are designed for another age. Thus, even the mighty Trump must bow to the donors, the oligarchs, the Israel lobby...
