J.R.R. Tolkien originally conceived Aragorn (Strider) as a Hobbit named "Trotter" in the early drafts of the story. When The Hobbit Announcement trailer was released on December 23, 2011, Peter Jackson was still planning the project as a two-film adaptation rather than a trilogy. Later, on July 30, 2012, it was announced that The Hobbit would be expanded into a trilogy, just like The Lord of the Rings. In my opinion, this was one of the biggest mistakes made in the adaptation. Do you think the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, set to be released in December 2027, might make the same mistake and be expanded into a trilogy as well? Two wildlife officers discovered a large Moose trapped in a net. It was panicked, struggling violently, and fell to the ground, crying out in fear and pain. The officers carefully approached it (as the large elk could have been dangerous) and quickly cut through the net to free it. After being released, instead of attacking, the Moose got back on its feet and immediately ran into the forest—perhaps understanding that they had saved its life. 🫎🌲

In my opinion the greatest Dragon ever put to film is Smaug from the Hobbit franchise by WetaFX. It is the most real looking and feeling Dragon I have ever seen. The incredible team at Weta spent a lot of time iterating and developing the character to make it what it is in the final film, even changing his design after the first film was released with a small snippet of Smaug in his previous form (they went back and re-rendered that snippet for the digital release of the first film to keep it consistent). He was changed from a 4-legged Dragon to his final form which is technically a Wyvern. He was voice acted and given reference performance capture by Benedict Cumberbatch which proved to be helpful for the animators at Weta. I have never worked on a Dragon before but it is definitely on my wish-list of creatures to work on one day as they are my favourite fantasy creatures. I highly recommend taking a look at how he was made in the below links, it is truly inspirational the level of detail and craftsmanship that went into making him. Two Baby Moose and Their Cheerful Battle with the Sprinkler 🦌💓 I watched this video and suddenly found it so adorable. Two twin moose calves in Alaska happened to discover a sprinkler spraying water in someone’s backyard. And just like that, the battle began. One of them had the spirit of a warrior. It kept charging in, headbutting, kicking, determined to destroy that sprinkler. It looked so determined that I imagined it thinking: “How dare this thing spray water all over the place in front of me?” The other one played the role of the “timid little sibling.” It stood at a distance, watching its brother fight the sprinkler with a face full of suspicion, as if wondering: “My brother has completely lost it.” Mom moose stood not far away, massive and extremely calm. She just quietly observed, with the attitude of: “Whatever, let them play, as long as they don’t get into real trouble.” The person filming stood from a safe distance, recording while complaining. She wanted to turn off the sprinkler but didn’t dare walk past the mother moose, because “her back is taller than I am.” Hearing that only made me laugh harder. And so the entire backyard turned into an accidental water park. One baby moose was trying to “fight” the sprinkler, the other stood watching, mom stood guard, and the homeowner stayed far away filming while silently hoping the sprinkler wouldn’t get destroyed. After watching, I couldn’t help thinking that nature sometimes knows exactly how to make people happy with something this simple.

While it was meant to be a powerful scene, the blood geyser effect went awry during filming. Tatsuya Nakadai was equipped with a hose beneath his costume, pressurized with 30 pounds to simulate bleeding. But during the duel scene, a connection in the hose failed, causing all the fake blood to burst out in one sudden, massive spurt instead of the intended gradual flow.

A yet to be named wolf pack, which formed last winter, has been successfully hunting elk on the National Elk Refugee for the last month. Yesterday morning, the pack crossed the Gros Ventre River north into Grand Teton National Park. Over just a few hours, the wolves attempted five separate hunts of bull elk in the park, though all five proved unsuccessful. The same bull elk was the target of at least two of the hunts (the two shown in the video that take place out in the sagebrush flats rather than on the slope of the butte). Although the bull elk got a few licks in, kicking at least one wolf and hitting another with its antlers, and was able to hold the pack off, the chases left it utterly exhausted.
