And for want of some joined-up thinking, Matlock and Buxton would still have a direct rail link to relieve the pressure on local roads. Pleased therefore to note the local campaigners continue to press the point, given the complete lack of Plan B. Or A. Or, indeed, C to Z

We live not far from Buxton near Stoke- no local buses anymore, no trains, so we'd have to go all the way to Manchester by train first and then get a train from there- makes it much more expensive- really hoping we do get some more local bus/trains services back but unlikely...

This line would make so much sense now.

You think I can afford a UK train ticket?

Time to rebuild the Midland line through Bakewell! Shared path with Cyclist and walkers. We have the engineering skills, let's make it happen!! Maybe even a Battery Train to keep the air clean and the cost down?

I love getting that train from Sheffield. That long tunnel and then- as if by magic - you're out into countryside!

@Bozenka_2023 Also Northern Rail are inevitably going to cancel your train back so there's more time in the pub.

Yeah it does, driving from Greater Manchester is £10 fuel, £6+ for parking. Train tickets £8 to £10, little difference for a couple. Or can get family ticket with kids. Looking at train service earlier, looks similar to any other day.
