How to decode a Nigerian number plate 🤯

Very Educative. Just discovering the last two letters meaning. I have two observations I might be wrong. 1. The first 3 letters aren't the Local government name but the HQ town of the LGA Eg. FST Festac HQ of Amuwo Odofin LGA Ben is for Benin HQ of Oredo LGA 2. Since it's possible to transfer plate numbers when you sell your car (not a common practice tho) the last two letters signify your plate number registration date.

The first three letters do not connote LGA, rather licensing offices in that state. For instance BEN - Benin Licensing office as Benin isn’t an LGA in Edo State (Oredo, Egor and Ikpoba are) NCH - Nchia Licensing office in Rivers which is in Eleme LGA.

But... We're in 2024.

The last 2 alphabet information is not entirely correct…

What about cars registered before 2010?

Thats not so correct.... I bought my car and registered it in 2018. The number ends with FU... With the explanation it is supposed to be HU not "FU" so what exactly happened?

Not completely true...they are currently at "J" for the last two letters...once they get to JZ, they'd move on to KA, KB till KZ and then L. Well for Lagos...

The information in the video is mislaeading. The last alphabets do not in any way mean anything. Numbers are produced and allocated randomly based on series, sequence and batch.

This has always been my obsession and it funny how I already knew what the first three letters mean and had an idea of what the first of the last two letters mean. Good to now know my thoughts and notions about it were correct to a large extent. 😊

This isn’t true , the letters after the numbers are not associated with yeah of registration. For instance “APP *** J*”was registered this year and by this logic it was registered in 2021.. so please do some more research and give us an update.
