Exactly. Our council is strapped for cash, so I have voluntarily repainted the cormorants and 3 benches so far in my local park and planted some flowers. In my street I'd like to repaint the lampposts (not been touched for about 50 years), and touch up the road signs

If a couple of volunteers (preferably more), in every street did something it would make a difference. I also remove graffiti if I can. In a nearby street someone has planted flowers around a tree. I've done the same in the park, hopefully they will bloom like that.
