NEW: Man falls from the basket of a hot air balloon after it caught on fire in Zacatecas, Mexico. The man was seen hanging onto a rope as the balloon continued to go higher in the sky. The incident unfolded when the basket caught fire on the ground. In a final act of selflessness, the man was able to help the other two escape, but he unfortunately got tangled in the rope. Still tangled, the hot air balloon began to rise into the sky. The man, who sadly fell to his de*th, was identified as 40-year-old Luicio "N," according to police. "I regret to inform you that during the First Balloon Festival, part of the Enrique Estrada 2025 Fair organized by the city council of this municipality, a person lost their life after an unfortunate incident while aboard a hot air balloon," said Secretary General Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza. RIP.

The resident, Hunter Perrin, says he was watching TV on Saturday morning when he got a knock on his front door from his neighbor. "We walked into the backyard and there's this basket full of 13 people, just sitting in the backyard looking at us," Perrin said. According to one of the hot air balloon riders, the pilot had to make an emergency landing because there wasn't enough wind and they had only a little fuel left. Two people rescued from their hot air balloon after it collided with a communications tower in Gregg County, Texas on Saturday. According to the Longview Fire Department, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the intersection of State Highway 300 and FM 1844 in north Gregg County at around 8:15 a.m. after reports came in that a hot air balloon had crashed into a 920-foot cell tower. Longview Fire Marshal Marcus Delaney told media that both people had been removed from the basket safely. The two balloonists were both uninjured in the crash.

Something quite intriguing, or rather disturbing, happened today in Sokoto. One of the engines of a Rano Air aircraft en route from Kano to Sokoto caught fire🔥 mid-air. Thankfully, the pilot managed to land the plane safely in Sokoto using the other engine… However, shockingly, after just a few “touch-ups,” the management of Rano Air cleared the same aircraft to fly passengers back to Kano. What kind of negligence is this? Unfortunately, just a few minutes after takeoff, the aircraft couldn’t hold up any longer and was forced to make a U-turn back to Sokoto Airport.
