I use just faucet hot water. I have never boiled water and dumped it on. But i'm guilty of the shortcut. Especially when gas prices were high. I didnt want to allow it to idle for 20 minutes.

I learned that lesson in 6th grade. Took a hot glass from the dishwasher and poured cold water from the tap into it and it busted immediately. 😂

Use a bit of peroxide it works great

Get a spray bottle put 90 % rubbing alcohol in it and thats how you deice it

@SusieM414141 The windshield wouldn't collapse like that because there is a layer of composite material between two panes of glass. It would crack...a lot. But it would not collapse.

I used hot water once and mercifully it didn’t shatter. However, the cold made the water freeze again so it’s pointless anyway.

The best way to do something like this is to use refrigerated isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. It will be cold enough to not crack the glass but alcohol lowers the freezing temperature of water and makes the ice melt
