1. Completely remove perfectly serviceable deck. 2. Build brand new basically identical deck from scratch.

The original deck was fine and the new deck unnecessary

This is super helpful, thanks for sharing! I've been putting off my deck repair for too long - need to get on this before spring.

Anyone notice the Dust Collection System beneath his miter saw? This boi is the real deal. Any how, that old deck wood looked great. Only needed a hot powerwash and reseal.

All that weight resting on three 4 x 4’s Could’ve used a 6 x 6 and notched it for the header to sit down in and through bolt. Not criticizing at all. Just an observation

How to demo a perfectly fine deck.

How is that a rotten deck? Don’t see any warping or splitting.

Removes the properly made cemented 4x4 support beams, then replaces it with a screwed in 4x4, held in by 1 bolt. Straight up fucking stupid.

This is the slowest demolition of a deck I have ever seen.

Questions.... AI? 1. How is there pristine, fresh concrete under an old rotten deck? 2. Most expensive deck ever with all of those 2x12s?

He just needed to pressure wash and stain it. What a waste of money. 😂

74 year old woman and I could see there was nothing wrong with the original deck, what a waste of good wood !!

I watch his YouTube channel all the time. He’s an amazing builder!

He did alright. Not the way I build my decks. I run my posts into the concrete and all the way up to the handrails. It's way stronger. You see how his posts moved when he put the hangers on? But it looks like he cares about how his work looks, so that's a plus.

This is such bullshit that I don’t have time to point out how much he’s fucking off instead of actually doing the job and getting it done correctly and getting it done right in a fast amount of time

I long for the day I have the peace in my life to do something like this and not be worried about anything else until it’s done

Retard cutting up everything at the beginning and prying individual boards. Completely wasted time.

Is it a good idea to drill a hole in the footings in order to attach the braces with a screw? I seem to recall from being on construction jobs years ago that we used braces that were actually set into the wet concrete itself.

Cutting the old decking into small pieces doesn’t make sense

way too many nails. use screws instead. and predrill when you are going close to the edge. This deck will look like shit in 4 years. The ends will be splitting everywhere.

One Amish dude would’ve had this done in one video

Honestly, if you are going to spend money on a new deck, might as well use PVC material. It's more expensive than wood, but is almost indestructible.
