How to repair a Brick Wall

Doesn’t this just create cavities for water to collect and freeze, then over time it will blister and fall off again?

Repairing it would be removing the damaged brick and replacing it with a new one, this is just disguising the damage..

That’s fair and I respect that opinion but at the same time it’s a repair on a window. I would assume there’s water getting in. Wouldn’t that be the more important thing to stop happening other than aesthetics
