*deep in thought, nodding, writing in my notebook* "swim up"

Oh, I am sure in the middle of drowning panic, one would remember to do this method. My father drowned. It was in moving water and this method would have been of no use. Please stop sharing things that will never save anyone.

Learning to swim is very important. You can be bad at basketball and still be okay, but if you can't swim, you're in danger.

The problem here is that most people are not lifeguards and as such won't have the mental wherewithal to not panic once their brain gives the "not enough air" signal

More impressed how he stays at the bottom like that. I have to actively swim pushing myself down to stay that low.

The only advice Is....Stay calm, no panic

The important distinction is whether or not the person is rational enough to stop the panic cycle. A non swimmer with a compromised airway generally can’t do this while a distressed swimmer very well could.

If you panic just take some deep breaths and you'll stay calm

The video shows how to survive this from drowning. What you do is you let gravity take you down to the bottom of the pool.then you kick the bottom of the pool to push yourself up through the water to the top. You can float on your arms to help push you up to through the water. But you can do that if you're in a river, not in a pool. Best way to recover from the pool.

So I'm guessing a person who's drowning isn't in panic mode, sucking in tons of water...
