this happened to me, only about 16 feet (5 meters), so I only broke a leg but you become weightless, so you can not lay down or jump at all, the best you can do is just hold on to something and/or pray

Won't work. If you're falling more than like two stories you'll be slammed into the roof of the elevator since it will be accelerating faster than you will. Then when it stops you'll hit the floor at the speed it was going, likely turning you into a fine paste.

Except this would never happen. Elevators are very safe and set up in a way that if everything fails but one thing, it can still hold up your weight. Also when elevators fail they go up…not down interestingly enough. This is all Hollywood crap 🤣
