He’s lying. Changing their name from Dahomey Republic to Benin Republic has nothing to do with Bini City, it was because Kereku a military junta from minority tribe hijacked power in 1972 and doesn’t want Dahomey majority to feel like they own the country so he changed its name…

First of all..are Benin Muslims? Reno don craze The first people to bring Islam into Yoruba land are the malians 🇲🇱 that’s why Yoruba call Islam esin imale

I dislike people who spew rubbish with so much confidence! Benin kingdom had nothing to do with Dahomey, Oyo empire went as far a Dahomey. The Dahomey name was changed to Republic of Benin because of the bite of Benin nothing more. Just like the bite of biafra means nothing!

Yoruba got their Islam from Mali by way of trade and this has absolutely nothing to do with Benin kingdom! The word Yoruba is a longer version of " Ori Oba" which has nothing to do with Fulani! ( read Abeokuta and the Cameroon mountains).

@Godisthegreate This is a distorted history, Islam was embraced in Yoruba Land by Yoruba Merchants who were trading in Kolanuts to the North, many of them brought Islam to cities like Ede, Iwo and so many other neighboring cities hundreds of years before the Conquest of Ilorin and Old Oyo.

Yariba people lacks accountability, they play victim instead of taking accountability of their actions. They shift blame to other people because they feel they are better than others, this is mainly caused by inferiority complex. The Fulani defeated you and you blame the Benin?

Partial truth, he’s talking about the olden Yorubas (Oyo only) not the whole Yoruba land today. That’s why you’ll see more percentage of Yoruba who are Muslim in Oyo state, most of them have Fulani blood in their gene, and hey are they one championing for sharia in Yoruba land.

Correction @renoomokri There’s a mixture of falsehood in that historical claim. Conquest didn’t bring Islam to Yoruba land you are accurate about that. Islam spread peacefully not by the sword but through trade, scholarship, and cultural exchange with the Mali Empire. Gold for cowrie shells, fine woven fabrics, leather sandals, and bags (notably from Timbuktu and Gao). Yoruba artisans traded local cotton fabrics, dyes (especially indigo from Ibadan and Osogbo), and adire cloths in return. From towns like Iwo, Osogbo, and Lagos, merchants and Mali scholars introduced the faith, and the Yoruba people willingly embraced it, seeing its alignment with moral discipline and learning. Arabic literacy, and trade ethics, which Yoruba communities admired and adopted. Why it is called Esin Imale (coined from the word Mali) This led to the rise of Muslim clerics (Alfa) It wasn’t a war treaty for defence like Reno claimed it was a meeting of civilisations through trade and trust.

He’s saying the truth. Yoruba likes to defend themselves always but support lies against others. They’re saying he’s lying now because he’s telling them their own history but if it’s about the igbos, they’ll say say it’s true. These people are known for jealousy and hypocrisy.

This guy is very dangerous, anyone that wants to do well in life should move far away from him. He distorted the whole history, made it disjointed and presents his conjecture as fact. Yorubas became Muslim due to Benin 😄, Oniro oshi

Classical Reno dishing half truths to fit the agenda Anyways one things we can take away from this is: Yaribas at some point actually brought Fulani, Afonja style to steal Lagos, but they never kept their part of the bargain and the Fulani abandoned them 👇👇👇

Whenever his mouth is moving like that, I don't and won't believe whatever he is saying. I wonder how this men will teach their children integrity. Since @renoomokri can go to hire @MikeArnoldTruth to come and lie and deceive Nigerians, he lost every iota of respect.

Reno is lying here. Yorubas never sort help of the fulanis or Hausa to conquer Benin Republic. The nearest northern were the Tapa, the people of Niger state that joined forces with the yorubas during some expedition. Its was 1840s that Afonja a Yoruba man first engaged the Fulas

Not entirely right... Some were conquered and some sought help, but never was there a time when a condition of conversation was given; instead, it was a demand for power and land. They interbred, and some became Muslims.
