Benches in Bergen, Norway are heated. To warm the homeless.

Fixed it for you… “How urban design excludes the Homeless”, the mentally ill, and the substance-impaired, thereby encouraging them to seek shelter where they won’t present a hazard to the general public.

Urban design should not be supportive of the homeless. Society should be. There should be shelters you can go to to get base facilities and support. Otherwise the incentives are set up all wrong and lead to wrong results.

Good. None of those exist to provide sleeping places for homeless. There are homeless shelter. They can sleep there, not on the streets, shitting where people walk and work.

over 1 million children experience homelessness each year , and 5% of the total homeless adult population are veterans .. everyone should have access to shelter and food. You don’t know how or why ppl are homeless. I will never understand the hatred they get.

Homeless shouldn’t be tolerated to sleep outdoors. Invite them into your home, Sarah. I don’t want crack heads and gypsies around my streets.

Being homeless is not a crime of the people suffering it’s a crime of society against humanity itself there is absolutely nothing stopping us from being human beings and finding amicable solutions for our own suffering people if we can send billions abroad to foreign governments

So, they'll spend money on this bullshit instead of simply helping the homeless..

Why didn't they build beds into the sides of buildings? Why aren't there beds for the homeless outside your apartment? Because those places aren't made for sleeping.

Homelessness should not be an issue for Architects or Urban Planners, but rather Substance Abuse Counselors and Psychiatrists.

I've noticed some airports are like this too. Had a 10 hour overnight layover in Madrid, they purposely design the seats so you can't lay down...that was a very long, restless night 😅

Let's make everything less comfortable for everyone, aesthetically unplesing for everyone, just so we can further demonize the homeless, who generally have the toughest time in society.

Just paint the hostile architecture in pride flag colors and call it a day

This is known as ‘Hostile Architecture’ these spikes are most commonly used by businesses to prevent homeless people from sleeping or loitering. Activists called this cruel.

You say exclude like they have a right to turn public spaces into their own personal drug den.

And, what on earth makes you think those are appropriate places to sleep on?

The average, sane person who wound up homeless could find a way off the streets within 6 months. The majority of long-term homeless people are either drug addicts or mentally ill. Normal people w/ families shouldn't suffer their filth (and potentially be placed in danger).

At this rate they should just set up suicide booths. It’s more intellectually honest for what they’re doing. Don’t like that? I agree. Let’s think about how we treat the poor and needy?

This is what we do. We use an AI to scroll through everyone's social media feed and if it detects that you've ever typed something along the lines of "we should be spending money to help the homeless" you are sent a homeless person to be your roommate.
