The key discovery by ancient mathematicians was that the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter is a constant for any size circle and they named that constant value PI.

Someone explain to my why it wouldn't work ...Why couldn't you, with string , wrap a cylinder in 1 perfect loop then compare the circumference length of the string to the radius or diameter?

Creo que es más fácil pensar en las veces que cabe el diámetro de una circunferencia en su propio perímetro. Sin más.

You can calculate pi to the 1 millionth MILE away from the decimal point and it never repeats and never develops any pattern...at least that has been detected to date. It's a bizarre number, in that no-one will ever know what the value EXACTLY is.

That's kinda overcomplicated. Just do a circle measuring 1 in diameter with a rope, and rope will have the length of pi

Pi was calculated to an approximate value about 3500 years back in India. Rig Veda texts tell us how they solved the squaring the circle and circling the square problems. They used ropes to find a ratio between the side of a square and diameter of a circle with same area.
