It was Connor’s idea to eat like that, and he made a great choice. And you’re right, it does showcase his comedic abilities because he’s not winking at it in any way. He’s literally shoveling food into his mouth, but he understood it’s nuanced, and that in this totally serious scene while his boyfriend’s about to break down, he’s just like, Oh God, look at the family drama; it’s amazing. He did say to Jacob, 'You never see anybody eat in a scene. I’m going to eat in the scene.' Meanwhile, I always put something in my mouth and then it’s time for me to speak. So I’m always like, Ugh. But in that scene, when the cameras were on them, we couldn’t get through several takes. You can hear everybody laughing because Connor would have noodles hanging out of his mouth.
