We can substitute 10% more petrol with ethanol, which can be easily done. It's being done in Brazil. So what our request is, start blending from 20-30% gradually. So 10% more ethanol can be consumed by Indian consumers. That is demand number one. Our second suggestion to the government is to commercialise the flex vehicles. Brazil has been running flex vehicles for many, many years. Many companies in India are ready with the prototype of flex vehicles... So they are ready to bring the prototype. But obviously, they will need some support from the government in terms of policy and maybe some tax relief... If you bring the flex vehicle in the country, two-wheelers and four-wheelers both... many vehicles will run on ethanol, no petrol required. The whole problem will be solved..."

#WATCH | Delhi CM Rekha Gupta says, "This is truly a historic day. Delhi EV Policy, which we aim to implement starting July 1, 2026. Following the LG's approval, the policy will remain in effect until March 31, 2030. It focuses entirely on electric vehicles—specifically zero-emission vehicles—with the ultimate goal of gradually transforming Delhi into a pollution-free city for the benefit of its residents. We have devised a comprehensive plan to execute this in phases over the next four years. I would like to highlight that the policy entails an expenditure of ₹7,000 crore over these four years alone. Additionally, we are investing ₹8,000 crore in creating EV infrastructure and waiving road taxes year-on-year; in total, we estimate that the people of Delhi will receive benefits worth approximately ₹15,000 crore through this policy. The measures include purchase incentives, scrapping incentives, the creation of charging infrastructure, and exemptions on road tax and registration fees. This scheme will be highly beneficial for the general public, as we have endeavoured to bridge the price gap between electric vehicles and conventional vehicles through these subsidies. I believe Delhi is the only state in the country launching such a massive EV policy framework; it not only involves an outlay of ₹15,000 crore but also adopts an uncapped, phased approach regarding vehicle numbers—meaning we will incentivise and support the adoption of as many vehicles as the public chooses to purchase. We have not imposed any kind of cap over these four years. We have included two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, N1 trucks, and 'Gramin Seva' vehicles in this policy...Following the Cabinet's approval, it will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor today. When driving and you suddenly sight men in uniform and guns, either soldiers in Army camouflage, police, or paramilitary uniforms standing on the express in an isolated area, slow down from afar and scan the area for proper visibility. If the road is a two lane express, ensure both sides of the road where the uniform men are standing are not covered with bush. If the both sides of the road is covered with thick and over grown grass, please it is a red flag. Before soldiers, police, civil defence, immigration or customs set up checkpoints or road blocks in the middle of nowhere, they will properly clear the bushes on one side, or on both sides of the road where they intend to mount their road block. They will build makeshift shades or seats. They may build makeshift shelter and create a proper space for vehicles to park. We have been using E15 (blend of 15% ethanol and 80% petrol) for the last three and a half years. We have been on E20 (blend of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol) since April of last year. From April 2025 to April 2026, it has already been one year, and we are now another five months beyond that. If someone is suggesting E25 (blend of 25% ethanol and 80% petrol), we have made it clear that we are conducting tests. Those tests will take time. Once the reports are available, we will evaluate them. Then we will discuss the findings with the stakeholders and the automobile manufacturers. After all, I neither manufacture the cars nor the fuel. The car manufacturers are comfortable with E20. Each one of them has made a statement to that effect. Consumers also appreciate the product. #WATCH | Delhi: On a 3-day 'Chakka Jam' announced by truck operators from May 22 to May 24, Rajendra Kapoor, President of All India Motor and Goods Transport Association, says, "This is not a typical 'strike'... we, the transporters of Delhi and the NCR region, are halting our operations out of sheer frustration, as we continue to incur mounting financial losses. The primary reason for this action is the government's imposition of the ECC (Environment Compensation Charge) tax. This tax has recently been hiked on the advice of the CSM... Effective October 31, 2026, BS-IV vehicles will continue to operate across the rest of India, but they will be prohibited from running within Delhi. Why is this restriction... Why green tax on BS-VI vehicles... Our demand is unequivocal: the Green Tax must be completely removed... The substantial revenue the government has collected from 2015 to the present day. Had this money been utilised, pollution could have been effectively curbed; however, no such prevention has taken place.
