According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT): ✅India’s festive retail sales hit an all-time high of Rs 6.05 lakh crore this year. This is a 25% increase over last year’s Diwali sales of around Rs 4.25 lakh crore. ✅Of the total, about Rs 5.40 lakh crore was spent on goods and Rs 65,000 crore on services, making it the biggest Diwali business in India’s trading history. ✅Importantly, this #Swadeshi Diwali saw an overwhelming preference for Made-in-India products – roughly 87% of customers chose Indian-made goods over imports. ✅Beyond the revenue figures, what is heartening is the positive sentiment and optimism in the market. Trader surveys showed confidence at a decade high, with the Trader Confidence Index at 8.6/10 and the Consumer Confidence Index at 8.4/10. ✅The e-commerce space recorded a 24% year-on-year growth in volumes while gross merchandise value (sales) posted an increase of 23%. What do these numbers tell us? They tell us that our economic policies – including the recent GST rate rationalization - is having a meaningful impact. In fact, about 72% of traders surveyed by CAIT credited the GST rate cuts on items like daily-use products, footwear, home decor and consumer durables as a key factor driving the higher sales this year. So, the #GSTBachatUtsav which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was indeed a ‘Double Diwali’. - Smt Nirmala Sitharaman. #NextGenGST

I just got scammed on Flipkart — not once, but TWICE. So I ordered a ₹2.6 lakh MacBook Pro and got a used, old model inside a sealed Apple box. We filmed the entire open box delivery, you can see that in first attached video. I immediately requested a replacement, and this time I unboxed the product at the EKart office under CCTV, and again the MacBook had smudges and marks so basically not new (second unboxing video attached below). 2 times. 2 wrong deliveries. After a discussion with customer care they started a return and then after 2 days they called me and offered me a compensation of 13K which I rejected, then 18K I rejected again and finally they offered me 10% which I rejected again. And after all this negotiation they rejected the return. So I called them again and I asked for 10% compensation as it was a lot of hassle by talking to them. And moreover, I was able to clean the marks but the laptop was not new in the first place. So why am I posting about it, here’s the disturbing part: it’s not just me. This seller called "Treasure Haul Online" has been scamming people for years. Users on LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, and X have posted about the same seller since 2023. For more information I have made a video and link to that is given below this tweet. I genuinely have 3 questions to ask: 1. How are fake products getting packed in sealed Apple boxes? 2. How is this seller still active despite public complaints from 2023? 3. How is this “Assured” if even Flipkart can’t verify what’s inside? FlipkartSupport, this isn't a mistake, it's negligence. You are enabling fraud through your platform. This requires investigation, I am requesting action against the seller and Flipkart. 20 minutes of Food Cost 20 lakh loss in Bengaluru Marathahalli Bengaluru’s failing governance, corporate negligence, and police corruption have once again come to light in a shocking incident at The Big Barbecue, Marathahalli. A woman’s ₹1.4 crore Mercedes-Benz was wrecked due to the reckless actions of valet drivers, who took her car for a joyride instead of parking it. They crashed into an illegal wall, causing ₹20 lakh in damages, and then fled. Instead of taking responsibility, the restaurant provided fake driver details and forged contracts, trying to evade liability. When the woman approached the police for justice, she was met with corruption and apathy. Officers suggested she “settle” for ₹2 lakh rather than pursue legal action, making it clear that protecting businesses mattered more than justice. The restaurant continues to operate freely, the valet drivers are missing, and the woman is left fighting alone. This incident highlights Bengaluru’s crumbling consumer rights and law enforcement failures. If even a high-profile case involving a luxury car can be buried so easily, what happens to ordinary citizens? The government boasts about “Brand Bengaluru,” but reality shows a city where fraud thrives, and police can be bought off. The woman now faces ₹20 lakh in repair costs, with no support from authorities. If such fraud remains unchecked, anyone could be the next victim. It’s time to demand accountability, expose corruption, and refuse to let powerful businesses escape justice. #bangalore #bengaluru #marathahalli Big Apple Barbecue Marathahalli BCP PRIYADARSHINI ACP MARATHAHALLI BCP ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌ BengaluruCityPolice ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸಂಚಾರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ BengaluruTrafficPolice CP Bengaluru ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು Joint CP, Traffic, Bengaluru DGP KARNATAKA alok kumar ACP SOUTH TRAFFIC BTP Acp South East Traff ACP EAST TRAFFIC BTP S. ⦿ Every paper leak is not an isolated scandal; it exposes a deeper structural weakness in our examination system. ⦿ The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, talks about completing investigations in two months and trials in three months. It provides for fast-track courts, but does our judicial system have got the capacity? ⦿ Fast-track special courts registered 1.44 lakh cases in 2025, out of which only 66,500 were cleared, while 2.46 lakh cases are still pending. 👉 How will this Bill ensure cases are completed within three months? 👉 Will there be more judges, dedicated prosecutors, and better forensic capacity? 👉 The Bill proposes a Special Task Force. Who will constitute this Task Force? 👉 What qualifications will its officers possess? ⦿ Over the last seven years, the NTA postponed 15 examinations, while six of its 14 major examinations faced allegations of paper leaks and other discrepancies. ⦿ The NTA has only 39 permanent posts, and 15 of these posts are lying vacant. ⦿ The NTA needs a strong, permanent, professional workforce, including experts in examination administration, psychometrics, logistics, data protection, cybersecurity, and fraud detection. It also needs a strong internal security architecture. ⦿ We need more quality institutions, more seats, and more pathways to professional education so that one examination does not define a young person's future. ⦿ Let us build an examination system that prevents these crimes in the first place. : Shashi Tharoor ji in Lok Sabha

Freudian Slip! Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Acting Director Russell Vought accidentally said the quiet part out loud: “I work for President Trump, not the American people.” That mindset is clearly evident in how the agency has gutted consumer protections in favor of industry and Trump donors. Since Trump took office, the CFPB has: • Overturned the overdraft fee cap — The Biden-era rule (which aimed to save consumers ~$5 billion per year with options like a $5 cap for large banks) was repealed by Congress via the Congressional Review Act in 2025. The CFPB is now barred from issuing substantially similar rules. • Rolled back price transparency and junk fee protections — This includes credit card late fees (the prior $8 cap proposal was blocked/vacated in 2025). The CFPB has since issued an RFI in July 2026 but has largely stepped back from aggressive action. • Dismissed or withdrew from 19–20 public enforcement actions. • Dramatically reduced new settlements and relief — Critics estimate this shift (plus dropped cases) has cost American consumers $19 billion in potential relief in the first year alone. • Closed 76% of supervisory actions (~1,500) and significantly scaled back examinations. • Pursued broad deregulation — Withdrew over a dozen final or proposed rules and nearly 70 guidance documents. Prioritized rescinding or reconsidering prior rules (e.g., Small Business Lending Data Collection under Section 1071). • Saw complaint volume surge to 6.6 million in 2025 (doubling prior years, largely driven by credit reporting issues), while consumer resolution/relief rates dropped sharply.

Brian sits on the board of Y Combinator. He said the last batch had 175 companies and only 16 of them weren't enterprise. "Here are the reasons I think it's happening. Number one, when ChatGPT came out, people were afraid it was going to kill their business. Number two, the business model is tricky. There is no consumer business model for AI that I've seen. For example, ChatGPT, there's three ways it can monetize subscriptions. Unfortunately, they're probably going to hit a local maximum percentage of users. Ads, they're hitting a local maximum because Claude and Gemini are not going to do ads. And e-commerce, they shut down the third party apps. And so the first thing is you need to have a business model around consumer AI. People are not trained to pay for information. The second problem is distribution is mature. Like the app store. Now again, top three apps in the app Store are AI, so it does prove you have something revolutionary, you'll find your way to the top. The third thing is, while I think Silicon Valley, we like to describe ourselves as rebels. I think it's very trend based and vibe based. And I think the trend is enterprise. Maybe finally the reason people aren't doing consumer companies is that they're just harder. You have to be good at a lot more things. You generally have to be better at design, marketing, culture, press. It's not purely technology and sales. But my prediction is that we're living in the age of enterprise AI, and I think in the next 12 to 24 months you're gonna see the beginning of a consumer AI renaissance. Almost every app on my home screen has not changed since AI, including Airbnb. I think that's gonna change in two years."
