The real reason this is happening is because human trafficking NGOs like HIAS and Catholic Charities are flooding airports with migrants. CBP/ICE lacks space to detain them, so they are paroled into the interior with court dates, just like under Biden. Instead of shutting these human trafficking NGOs down, Republicans continually fund them. Republican Congress passed H.R. 7148 (Consolidated Appropriations Act 2026) in Feb 2026, allocating ~$5-5.7B to ORR refugee services for NGOs like HIAS, Catholic Charities, and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.

A lot of people in the comments don't seem to understand how international flights work. It doesn't matter if your final destination is not a sanctuary city, customs is handled by the first airport you land in the US. Here are 2 list of airports that receive international flights. List '1' has airports that would no longer be able to handle international flights, and list '2' airports that would be able to handle international flights. The overwhelming number of international flights would no longer be allowed.

As a conservative Denver resident who tends to fly a lot and has had nothing to do with the illegal sanctuary designations - this would damage the brand a lot. This is a step too far.
