Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Operation Cold Winter’s Night Cracks Down on Human Trafficking Last night, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office conducted a targeted prostitution sting operation, resulting in the arrest of 26 sex buyers attempting to buy sex services from undercover Deputies posing as sex workers. More importantly, 2 victims of Human Trafficking were rescued, 2 illegal firearms were recovered, and 2 new Human Trafficking Cases were opened. This operation was part of our ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and reduce the demand for illegal sex work in our community. Human trafficking remains a serious issue that preys on the most vulnerable, and we remain committed in the fight against it. In recognition of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we are highlighting the significant enforcement results from a series of proactive investigations conducted by police partners across Ontario through the Intelligence-led Joint Forces Strategy. Human trafficking thrives in silence and we will not stay silent. In recognition of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we are highlighting the significant enforcement results from a series of proactive investigations conducted by police partners across Ontario through the Intelligence-led Joint Forces Strategy. Over the past 18 months, 80 people were arrested and 165 charges were laid for attempting to purchase sexual services from youth or individuals believed to be exploited.
