These community dogs don’t ask for much—just a gentle touch, a kind word, a moment of care. Give them that, and they give you everything they have. They surrender not out of fear, but out of trust and love. They carry a pure, unconditional affection that asks nothing in return. Supporting Ukraine isn't really about where you’re from; it’s just about being human. You can feel the strength of my country even from thousands of miles away, but you can’t force that on anyone who just doesn't want to see it. Honestly, there’s no point in trying to talk someone into feeling compassion. If there’s no room in your heart for Ukraine and our people right now, when things are this hard... it’s probably never going to be there. Love and empathy - they’re either there or they aren't. Simple as that.

My presence at the Inauguration Mass of Pope Leo XIV today in Rome, alongside the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor Peter Obi Peter Obi, and countless Catholic faithful from across the globe, was both moving and memorable. It brought back memories of my attendance at the inauguration of Pope Francis in 2013. As someone born into the Catholic Church and who continues to hold my faith close, I found deep resonance in Pope Leo’s homily, particularly his call for the restoration of dignity to the poor, the weak, and the marginalised. This message speaks to the very heart of what the modern Catholic Church should embody. In delivering this message, Pope Leo XIV is already aligning his papacy with the legacy of Pope Leo XIII, whose 1891 encyclical, Rerum Novarum, laid the foundation for Catholic Social Teaching. That vision of justice, dignity, and compassion remains as urgent today as it was over a century ago. We pray that Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate will be one of moral courage, spiritual renewal, and transformative leadership for the universal Church and the world. Amen.

The pope, speaking off the cuff and in great mood, told the young at the beginning of the meeting that his niece called him today asking: Uncle how do you handle with so many different problems on your table? „And the answer is YOU!” Pope Leo told young people, you are the answer to how do I manage. „Because we are not alone!”
