Diwali is the main polluting festival with some of the poisonous gases hanging in the air for days leading to various diseases one of them being lung cancer. Other festivals do not have external celebrations like this to cause any mental or physical damage.

Firecrackers are not part of Hinduism and Firecrackers were brought by mongols, was never part of our celebration. Muslims and Christians don't burst crackers on their festivals, atleast I haven't seen in Mumbai.
