Monsoons Region: Tropical areas, especially South Asia, Southeast Asia, parts of Africa, and Australia. Characteristics: Seasonal wind and weather changes that bring heavy, often torrential, rains. Monsoons are about seasonal shifts in wind patterns, not revolving storms like the others. Formation: Caused by temperature differences when the sun's angle shifts, leading to wet and dry seasons.

Cyclones, Typhoons, and Hurricanes are all the same weather phenomenon - they just refer to the location where it occurs. All are likely made much more powerful, and their damage more severe, thanks to climate change.

Tornadoes Region: Worldwide, but most commonly in the U.S. (e.g., Tornado Alley) Characteristics: Rapidly rotating columns of air, usually visible as funnel clouds, with winds up to 300 mph (480 km/h). They are the most violent atmospheric phenomena. Formation: Associated with thunderstorms and often form from supercell thunderstorms. They're not ocean-related like hurricanes but can occur over land or water (waterspouts).

Typhoons Region: Northwest Pacific Characteristics: Identical to hurricanes in nature but named differently due to regional terminology. They have the same wind speed threshold. Formation: Similar to hurricanes, over warm tropical waters.
