@slimhiney One of the greatest ever covers.

The Husker's version of this song strips me down to the core of my being. Everything taken away down to the fury, anger, love, and urgency, bathed in feedback, distortion and melody we feel in our Id. Throw away other stuff that bands came out with. This is the benchmark.

One of the lovely things about Hüsker Dü is how such a beautiful hurricane of noise pop could come from such unassuming guys. I mean, if you saw them eating breakfast in a cafe, would you expect their sound. The most “unposerish” punk band ever. (Unposerish is my new fave word).

A cover so great some say better than the original. Not long before they broke up.

Thank you so, so much for this. Didn’t know how much I needed this exact thing.

@MattWelch I immediately clicked thru and while I was watching, I thought about how after I’d make a joke about how Hüsker Dü covering the Byrds being a Nick Gillespie retweet being the safest bet ever. Looks like it was a bet I would have lost, apparently!
