14 years ago a friend, Lorie Conway proposed that we work together on a documentary film on the life of Beatrice Mtetwa. I had just arrived at Harvard University for a year of study as a Nieman Fellow. I also had arrived for my studies with an unfinished documentary film which went on to be the award winning, A Violent Response. Lorie had been a fellow at Harvard University’s Nieman Foundation years before I arrived. I heard their concerns and spoke to the management at KNH. I know times are tough, but I’m hopeful a solution will be found soon. I am sharing this clip in which the then PM of Pakistan Imran Khan talks about his vision & his dream for Namal University. A private philanthropic project for the less fortunate kids of his country (No Government money of Pakistan has been spent on this project, it is totally funded by private citizens). I hope that in 2025 the project continues as planned and his dream does come true. I was fortunate to design the campus for this noble cause & God willing I will be there for the ribbon cutting at the opening with Imran Khan soon.
