Hytale combat and movement Better than Minecraft?

This game is already a league above Minecraft, crazy how this is only the beginning. I’ll always enjoy Minecraft’s charm but this has more potential

@IanOrang Definitely not above *current* Minecraft unless there's major features I've missed. There's not that much to do at the moment (in exploration mode) and it's buggy. But it has the potential to be better than Minecraft with a few solid updates. Big potential

@IanOrang Minecraft is just boring tho. There is no reason for you to explore as structures in minecraft have awful loot.

@IanOrang In Hytale I went to zone 4, got 200 adamite in 20 mins which was just casually sitting on the surface, and now I have the best gear currently available. So what now?

@Thanos95375753 The game is unfinished, but it already has a lot to explore and a lot of mobs. I think that makes it better than current Minecraft personally. You can also get diamonds in 20 minutes in Minecraft so not really a big deal, people like to speed run.

Getting diamonds in Minecraft does not end the game. You are nowhere near dome with Minecraft after getting diamond. But it seems like after you get Adamite in Hytale, that's it. Not much left to do. That's the difference Also, diamond is deep underground and in small quantities while Adamite is chilling on the surface in large quantities. So that also, is not the same

@IanOrang @Thanos95375753 You need to upgrade the shit out of your workbench before even considering crafting adamite, although I do agree it’s really common for now. I think it’s because stuff like mythril is still placeholder and isn’t actually findable in game.

I upgraded the shit out of my workbench with like 15 hours of playtime while not even focusing on it until later on. I personally need more stuff to do than that to consider it better than current Minecraft Which I'm sure they will add in a few updates so, Hytale can overtake Minecraft very easily. I just don't think it did yet

Enemies are to weak, you can kill them with the tear 1 sword... hope they fix that.

Yeah, I went into zone 4 (the most dangerous one) with stone gear and it was pretty chill

i thinkk that it shouldnt even be compared, they are 2 very different combat systems, if anything its closer to terraria combat

How are they very different? Hytale just has charged attacks and ults, but the general idea is the same

minecraft you need to actually aim. will in hytale you essentiall just have a massive attack hitbox whenever you attack. and ults are a huge difference to minecraft

Depends. Java sword has sweeps too, and pointing at a mob in PvE is not something challenging anyway The ults are just an additional attack option. You press button, deal damage, and move on. It's not a "huge" difference in PvE. This only makes sense if you're referring to PvP which has a lot more nuance. Then I agree it makes a significant difference

yeah the only thing that needs to be changed is that sprinting outside of combat should not use stamina

I think for a prototype build that has a month of polishing, things look/feel fantastic. I’m pumped to see where we’re at in 6 months with mods and further development

Yes, but that's not really saying much. Minecraft is an old game, and the combat was really simplistic from the start. So far Hytale has great modernized bones, but since it was just released into early access lacks any real meat.

Only issue is how "dumbed down" monsters are compared to you (the player). You can do fancy shit with daggers or just two-handed maces, but the monsters are just there, trying to reach you but you keep knocking them back even with daggers and mostly kiting as you bounce away.

Yes Hytale combat is way better by far, Minecraft as never been known for excellent combat it was always the survival and sandbox aspect that is good

The combat is definitely a lot punchier/ enemies are more reactive to getting hit and it looks nice, i just hope they make then more abundant/ aggressive.

Minecraft combats are so fucking dogshit it's not hard to make anything better

I mean yeah. Minecraft has the most bland combat ever. Minecraft is in my top 3 games but some of their systems is so dumb.

My main gripe with Hytale's combat currently, is that ranged isn't viable. It deals less damage than melee like you'd expect, but you don't get the safety aspect that justifies that reduction. You can't outrun enemies, and attempting to position yourself out of their reach results in them leashing and resetting their entire health bar. Additionally, the special attack (triple arrow) is pathetically underpowered (6x3 for 18 damage total, vs the 16 damage of a normal attack). There's also apparently a magic system, but I have yet to see any way to get magical attacks (not implemented yet?).
