Ukraine received the first batch of energy equipment from the German Government as part of the winter emergency support package The emergency support package includes: 2 cogeneration plants, 300 solar stations, 375 battery storage units for backup power supply, 15 mobile hybrid generators, 10 pellet heating systems, and 45 units of construction equipment for urgent repair work. This will help provide light and heat to over 86,000 people in Kyiv.

Today we have a new package of energy support from Norway – already the third this year – amounting to about 150 million dollars for gas purchases this winter. Energy support is extremely important. I thanked Norway for this assistance and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre personally during our meeting. I informed him about the consequences of today’s Russian attack. I am grateful for Norway’s solidarity and condolences. We discussed Ukraine’s needs for air defense systems and missiles for them, as well as other steps that can strengthen Ukraine during the winter. We also discussed our defense cooperation separately – the production of drones and missiles, and the expansion of the PURL initiative. We coordinated our positions and upcoming meetings to be held in Europe this week. We are very grateful for the great support of the Norwegian people – air defense systems, missiles for these systems – all of this saves lives.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte urged to increase support for Ukraine for the sake of strengthening its position. "Ukraine is in urgent need of our help. Putin will use winter as a weapon. He will try to destroy Ukraine’s power system," Rutte said. He emphasized that on the issue of possible negotiations with Russia, Kyiv should be in a position of strength to be able to decide for itself when and how to start diplomatic efforts to end the war. He noted that Ukraine needs constant defense support from NATO and its partners for this very purpose.
