i love the way she eventually puts her cannon down resting her other arm on her leg which isnt telling us, but instead showing us samus is thinking "this should be interesting..." which goes for us too since everything we encounter up to that point is trying to kill us

i love how when she tilts her head up her visors shape goes from looking sharp and angry to visibly intrigued

when the character isn't able to emote they really have to try to find other ways to get them to show any form of expression, in samus's case, her body language carries. The fact that there's so many moments where you can tell exactly what she's thinking is impressive AF

Fun fact : she does aim with her gun, following with her sight, and once the target has been acknowledged as not a threat, lowers it. This means Samus, bounty hunter and destroyer of planets, still has a better gun training than most cops.

Mercury Steam needs to be the go to Metroid dev. They have given Samus more characterization in 3 games than the rest of the franchise combined. They truly get it
