I think even bad people can still have a somewhat iconic or “groundbreaking” impact on an industry or a singular person’s life. If Tyra was good to raja that doesn’t change the other controversial things she’s done and vice versa. Both can be true at the same time

I agree. People are quit to judge Top Model based on today's perspective. But as Raja said, Top Model was a representation of what the fashion industry was in the early 2000s.

I think it’s complex but I’ll certainly always give Tyra her flowers. I do think we have to acknowledge some of it was intentionally “sensationalized” for reality tv and definitely unsympathetic, and maybe cruel to the models

It's always that person that's "too woke" who discovered ANTM in 2020 but never lived through the early 2000s that are showing hate

No. - When Tyra brushed off Keenyah being sexually harassed on set, I knew then that it was wrong. - When Tyra made Yaya apologize to a fake kente cloth hat (appropriating her culture) I knew then that it was wrong. - When Tyra yelled at Tiffany, I knew then that it was wrong.

Gag! I keep saying that. People want to rewrite the narrative so bad but Tyra was revolutionary.

Modeling back then was quite toxic, and her show was just a reflection of that environment. Kinda like Gordon Ramsay and his show kitchen nightmares.

Not only that but she introduced regular people to the fashion industry. I didn't know what a GoSee was until the Tyra show.

Tyra was pro-LGBT, pro-plus size, and pro diversity since 2003 before it was a trend like it is now for most people that critique her. The purpose of the show was to reveal the harsh reality of the modeling industry and she did just that. ANTM will always be the best rtv show
