@USADocumented I have the same when helping older guys with their vehicles or equipment. Once the experience is gained it’s in the brain for the future. Usually it’s to the point they already broke it off and confused what to do now. You should have soaked and woke the threads up first.

I've done it for years, but not on a bolt in that badly corroded.
