I am absolutely blown away by the new visionOS 2 feature that turns regular photos into spatial photos. It works even better than taking actual spatial photos and video using my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I expected wonky and inconsistent cutting out of subjects. There is none. 10/10!

To reiterate: it doesn’t just work on iPhone photos. It works on literally any photo in your photo library. Even images from the web that I’ve downloaded look incredible. It’s truly stunning.

I’ve probably looked at 150 photos from the 90s when I was a kid and it’s incredibly emotional to see them again in “3D.” Only one (literally) converted a bit wonky. This feature should have shipped from day one. It’s a game-changer I hope everyone can try out soon.

I am so gonna try this on panoramas

definitely works better, which makes a lot of sense because iPhones don’t capture binocular photos

Hear me out on my crazy habit and theory. I take multiple pictures often times of family members from different angles, And instead of deleting them, I keep them saved, so that in the future a perfect 3-D rendering could be made based on the different angles saved.

Regular as-in non iphone photos too? Or is this from depth data saved at capture time? Would be interested to see how it deals with something where there's no clear subject and a lot of detail

It works well on any photo

Photos have been captured with lidar depth information for years.

@Alyx_V3 It works on any photo. I’ve tried it on even images from the web, and it works perfectly.

fr i thought it wouldn't work well for some photos but it did work really well for all the photos i tried lol
