The recent attack on a train in Baluchistan by the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA), allegedly orchestrated from Afghanistan as the attackers were in contact with their handlers and receiving orders via satellite phones is a concerning escalation of tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This incident is part of a larger pattern of Afghanistan providing safe havens to groups and individuals opposed to Pakistan, including TTP, BLA, BLF, and figures such as Khattak and his associates from Peshawar, as well as Achakzai. Some Waziristani individuals, for whom the Afghan government in the 1970s started a prime-time radio show called Pakhtunistan to support those who wanted to separate from Pakistan, as well as tribes like the Mari, Mengal, and Bugti from Baluchistan, among others, are also part of this pattern. The history shows very clearly that Afghanistan is the one that started interfering in Pakistan’s internal affairs and using Afghan soil against Pakistan. The current situation is marked by Afghanistan's continued support for groups and individuals opposed to Pakistan, which Pakistan sees as a threat to its sovereignty. Pakistan's concerns are exacerbated by the fact that these groups and individuals often operate from Afghan territory, allegedly with the support of the Afghan government. Given this context, it is understandable that Pakistan might react harshly to the train attack. However, it is essential for both countries to engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve their differences and address Pakistan's concerns about Afghan support for anti-Pakistan groups and individuals. I held a meeting with a UN delegation led by Tom Fletcher and Filippo Grandi. I thanked them for visiting not only Kyiv but also the southern part of Ukraine, as well as Dnipro, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, particularly Kupyansk. It means a lot to all our people. We deeply appreciate all the support for Ukraine and are especially grateful for the decision to allocate $3.3 billion this year for humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people. Together, we can also assist other nations where restoring stability is crucial. Our humanitarian initiative, Food from Ukraine, is aimed at providing food support to the Syrian people. Today, I invited the UN to join this important effort.

I met with President of the National Council of Switzerland @MajaRiniker. I am grateful that this visit includes not only Kyiv but also other regions of our country. This is truly important. We discussed the global situation, cooperation with partners, and Switzerland’s support and assistance. I am thankful for the decision to allocate 5 billion francs for the recovery of our country. We have many promising humanitarian projects that we can implement together with the help of these funds. We also touched upon the issue of abducted children. We hope that Switzerland will join our efforts with partners in a practical way to help bring all the children back home – to Ukraine. Thank you for a good conversation. He also admits that he wanted to buy me a car and he would have given me $1 million for the work I did, but he hesitated.
