I note Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s remarks in a TV interview this morning. Neither he nor his Party has made those proposals as part of the process of constitutional reform. His proposals are therefore not in the report of the Constitutional Reform Committee, and will not be in the new Constitution coming out of that process. Furthermore, Mr. Holness’s proposals are not in the existing Constitution, and would violate the existing Constitution. This is in keeping with his and his Government’s unfortunate history of past violations of the Constitution of Jamaica. It seems that the Prime Minister wants to make up a rule which is not part of the Constitution or laws of Jamaica, to suit his Party’s political fortune at a time when it is waning. He has no power and no authority to do that. He needs to tell the country why his statutory declarations to the Integrity Commission cannot be certified. I am compliant with the Constitution and laws of Jamaica, and I undertake to the People of Jamaica that I will continue to be so.

Is the Supreme Court ruling on the impeachment of Sara Zimmerman Duterte based on erroneous facts? I was there! I didn’t miss the chance to witness history — I can say for a fact that the ruling of the Supreme Court was based on erroneous facts and anyone can check it via the Livestream of the House of Representatives that day. February 5, 2025. One of the things which concerns me here is the additional requirement that came out of nowhere— not in the 1987 Constitution and not even in the existing ruling of the Supreme Court. Speaker Martin Romualdez in an interview yesterday said that the House of Representatives followed the existing precedent also from the Supreme Court — the Francisco and Gutierrez ruling. How can the House follow something that doesn’t exist during that time? Please make sense. Atty. Princess Abante released an explainer video explaining the factual truth about what transpired in the House of Representatives on February 5. Aside from the House Journal and official reports, the public can easily check the livestream of the House of Representatives. I don’t care if the Supreme Court ruling was written by an Aquino appointee because it doesn’t make sense to me at all! Please take time to watch the video — Atty. Abante was able to explain the side of the House of Representatives. Also, why would the Supreme Court put more weight to a news article versus an official journal and actually videos? Now, please tell me… How can we just trust the decision of the Supreme Court?

Attorney General Miyares Issues Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Stay of Ruling on Non-Citizen Voting When this began, I promised Virginians we would take this case all the way to the U.S Supreme Court if necessary. Today, I am pleased to report the Court granted our request for an emergency stay. This ruling ensures that – with less than a week before the elections – Virginians can vote with confidence knowing Virginians will be choosing our elected officials. I am grateful that the Supreme Court recognized the importance of this issue and issued its decision in such a short time frame. This ruling is a win for election integrity and the rule of law. While I am gratified the Court moved so quickly, I remain deeply concerned and alarmed that the Biden-Harris administration chose to execute this maneuver just 25 days before an election. Today’s ruling is a reaffirmation of our commitment to election integrity, and I look forward to ensuring that our electoral process remains secure for all Virginians.
