Yeah quite a poor design. Max vertical alignment should be at 7% and that is when no options exist. He could literally follow the contour if he did not want to backfill the entire valley or check for feasibility for a bridge.

Afu no climbing lanes or lane barriers. Should a truck stall in front of you and your car doesn't have "COME FLY WITH ME" then you're cooked.
