As credible as Rivers state where Tinubu who scored 50k votes 🗳️ in reality ended up with 235k declared by a stranger. Or Bauchi LGA where PO who scored 5k votes in one ward ended up with 185 votes in the entire LGA Buhari - just getat Abeg - don’t provoke Nigerians 🇳🇬

Buhari's government is a government of liers, and deceivers. He lied his way through to power in 2015. Toping his endless list of lies was saying he will ban government officials from seeking medical care abroad. Ironically, he is the one quick to jet out to the UK at the slightest headache, after bringing complete destruction to the already dilapidated hospitals. And just like his vehicle of entrance was lies, and deceit, he is also living behind a legacy of lies. Nothing can be more dishonest than claiming in this morning broadcast that he is "leaving behind an electoral process that guarantees that votes count, results are credible, elections are fair and transparent and the influence of money in politics is reduced to the barest minimum. And Nigerians can elect leaders of their choice". Perhaps 2019, and the just concluded 2023 sham didn't happen. We must have imagined the #protest , all the sorrow, tears and blood that characterized both electoral cycle.

As part of our build-up to the 2027 General Elections, today we held the north east Zonal town hall meeting in Gombe State, I joined many Nigerians in rejecting the newly passed 2026 Electoral Act by the National Assembly and signed into law by the President. It is a recipe for chaos and manipulation of the electoral process. We demand that the National Assembly reverse its position and amend the relevant areas to allow for credible, free, and fair elections—especially the electronic transmission of election results in real time. Arise and shine, for a New Nigeria is possible.

As the Chairperson of the African Union Committee of Five(C5) responsible for overseeing the process of the implementation of the revitalised peace agreement, we left South Sudan with renewed hope that peace will prevail. And, that a process of inclusive national dialogue involving all the signatories to the revitalized agreement will be undertaken, and that all the processes that will move from now will remain credible, and that all parties will be involved and be allowed to participate in this process. It is important that the elections should be inclusive, should be transparent, should be fair, and the security environment should be conducive to conduct free and fair elections.

Today, during the debate on the Electoral Act Amendment, I reiterated my well-known views on the need for amendments that will strengthen the transparency of our elections. Most importantly, I emphasized the necessity for electronic voting and the electronic transmission of election results. I also stressed the need to shift the burden of proof in electoral matters so that INEC bears the responsibility of proving that the elections it conducts are in conformity with the laws, guidelines, and rules — rather than leaving that burden on the contestants. We are currently working on the new Electoral Act Amendment, in which I am deeply involved. We wish Nigeria the best. HSD.

With what many people have described as a joke in the name of an election in Ekiti State, I hope Nigerians are truly preparing for the 2027 elections. From what we are seeing, it appears that not only are many Nigerians unprepared, but our electoral system is also not inspiring the level of confidence that citizens expect. If we want credible elections in 2027, we must start paying attention now. We cannot wait until election day before demanding transparency, accountability, and integrity from all stakeholders. Democracy only works when the people are vigilant and when electoral institutions earn the trust of the citizens they serve. The time to prepare for 2027 is now.
