I remember when this hit the news. I was a Marine SSgt deep in the closet but actually dating my eventual husband. A year after this an Army PFC was bludgeoned to death in his sleep for being suspected of being gay. They made a movie about it, “Soldiers Girl.” 😢

27 years ago already. I was in shock for a long time, along with so many others, when this appallingly brutal murder happened, and I will remember it always.

😭.. as a 4th+ decade gay man Matts story still to this day makes me ill.. our world 🌎of hate is soo shitty.. the various books are well worth a read, be ready to cry, and get mad. 😠😢🇬🇧
