I animated 15 Studio Ghibli scenes using Midjourney Video 🎬 Here’s a side-by-side comparison 🔊 What do you think?

P.S. Each final result took no more than 3 Midjourney generations.

I think they trained on the original videos so why is this so amazing?

This is going to enrage so many people. It’s possible to celebrate the development of new tools without disrespecting traditional art

And it wouldn't exist at all without Studio Ghibli... Using this to make cheaper projects with original and dedicated teams is one GOOD use case. Many misuse opportunity. Including straight up theft.

Oh snap! You're gonna have a lot of 'fun' with the comments.

Midjourney still has some issues like the woman's head rotating owl style in the very last scene you showed, but wow it's like 90% of the way there if we go by these results

I think we are going to have a stage where art will suck since noobs will get into art and make real artists look like gods. Then selection will do its thing and only the best videos will pop off. Once that happens people will try to emulate them but they will always be behind real artists as real artists don’t mimic, they create new.

I prefer the original hand painted masterpiece.

The problem with so many AI demos like this is that you guys never bother trying to distinguish what is already in the AI's training data. Since Japan has very permissive laws for AI it seems likely Midjourney was able to use the originals in their training.

too good
