I asked #Colts HC Shane Steichen what he could’ve done to better develop Anthony Richardson: “That’s a process. It's a day-in and day-out process. … But you specifically? “I mentioned the injuries but again, meeting with him. Met a lot with him during those injuries. …”

Crazy how you know when it’s a coach’s last year

Embarrassing having a head coach who can’t take accountability. Cant develop talent and doesn’t have the balls to answer the tough questions. Just beats around the bush and avoids it. Kudos to you for asking, shame on him for the “answer”

Ducking the question every time he’s asked about it, get him out of the building

Appreciate how persistent you are on these - genuine question though (would love a reply to this) what exactly are you hoping he’d say here? Im sure you have a reasonable answer lol but it’s a bit of a tough spot for Shane - what’s he supposed to say “Anthony can’t be trusted”?

Beyond the X and O’s, Steichan really has a lot of developing to do if he wants to be a successful head coach. He just doesn’t seem like a “leader of men” every time I hear him speak.

So he’s just purposefully ignoring the question and using his fave buzz word “process”…lovely

It feels as if nobody is even considering the possibility that this might be entirely self-inflicted, from every possible angle. The Colts may have handled everything perfectly internally, while Anthony Richardson handled everything poorly - leaving Steichen with no option but to go this route. AR lost the Locker room last year, it’s really hard to get that back on a team of 60+ guys. I’m not saying that’s the truth, but it’s a perspective I haven’t seen anyone mention. If you asked people inside the organization, I have a feeling their view would be very different from what fans, journalists, or beat writers are putting out.

So they didn’t do their “process” of scouting him? Talk to old coaches, players, etc? Massive failure from top down…. When you draft a dude top 5, you better know what you are getting.

Its 1 of 2 things. 1. There's more going on behind the scenes than we know & Steichen is struggling to answer questions honestly without completely throwing AR under the bus. 2. Steichen is just terrible at answering questions from the media.

Classic. Zero accountability in this organization. Makes Shane look like he can’t read a room to save his life. I’m sure he’s a great guy, but this is tiring.

Would love for an ounce of accountability from any leadership on this team. AR played his role, but it’s not 100% on him

What in the word salad...I can't wait for this to get broke down tomorrow morning. Sometimes he just seems a little over his head as a HC beyond the X's and O's

Take accountability pal. You were hired to develop him.

In other words, AR wasn't committed to playing as an NFL QB. It's ok to understand he may have massive athletic talent and he is a bad QB.

He could not develop him and now him and Ballard are just trying to save their jobs with another mediocre season. Pinning hopes on DJ at QB is not the move. Watched him for 6 years in NY and he sucks

This is all on the Dolts brass...they said when they drafted him that he would be a project and not to expect a lot from him in the first year or two and then they went against what they said. Three years in and they decide he should sit behind a vet. Shane sucks at his job
