I asked Lavonte David about Todd Bowles after the regular season finale. This is what he had to say:

Evan, unfortunately there isn’t any players saying the love Todd videos, or game management coaches, or “ Eureka” moments, that will help fans get back on board like last summer. Seemed clear players lost their fight for Todd on the field. Just compounded Coen mistake. Wow

Despite the collapse, I never heard players turn on Todd Bowles. I think they have questions about walk-throughs and some other preparation things, but fans need to understand Todd isn’t the sole reason why this team struggled. I get the frustrations, I really do, but there is nuance.

@DB32919 Happens all the time off-the-record. If you don't like your boss, do you not tell coworkers about it? Family members? Friends?

If Lavonte does end up retiring, can we hire him as DC

Pfft...a players coach, eh? His teams are woefully unprepared & lack discipline - exemplified by never ending penalties negating key gains and the futile efforts of trying to run the ball when you have several great receivers. No one cares if players like coach.

Love LVD, but he’s retiring so I don’t really care what he thinks about bowles. Plus he’s a HOFer so maybe he could reach his potential with subpar coaching. Outside of Mike, there are NO other HOFers on this team. Nobody close. They need to be coached up, bowles is incapable.
