I love this band. Beautiful harmonies. The good lord cursed them with an unseemly appearance, while simultaneously blessing them with angelic musical abilities. So they ain't much to look at, but despite their grotesque and utterly offensive facial appearance, they sure can sing

Heard they were gonna open for Bill Monroe In Kentucky back in ‘62… the night before the show the plane crashed…. I was 6 years old

They were supposed to trade planes with "Big Bill" Lister, but something went wrong.

What’s with musicians and dying in plane crashes. Were planes just that dangerous in the 60s? Was touring a virtual death sentence?

they flew too much, management hired out cheap planes and pilots, and they also got drunk and did coke with their pilots. Among other things.

I was looking over reports from that time, I don't think they ever found Ed's head in the wreckage of the plane. Grizzly stuff.
