I have a feeling that the reason they were reluctant to sell you one is that they're a leftover from when the UK was a higher trust society. If they were widely sold now, people would just use them to get through the gateline and then ride the train without paying

Cheapest rail ticket in the UK is Heathrow Term 2/3 to Terminal 4 or Terminal 5 or vv costing £0.00 obtainable from machines in the terminal and entrance to arrivals.

I might be wrong, but I think these are available at Blackfriars and you can use the station as a river crossing. Worth it on a rainy day if you don’t have an umbrella.

Not a RAIL ticket is it. Its a PLATFORM ticket.

They are available at literally EVERY SINGLE TICKET OFFICE. If the ticket office doesn't have it. It's called the staff CBA finding it in the selling system.

You can use them (from recollection) to go through Southwark tube and to Waterloo east.

Can you not just stand on a platform for an hour and save yourself ten pence?
