Bro is going to rebuild every electron app now in rust xd

Haha I'm done, for now 😈

Hey! I'm using it and it's awesome! Is there any way to view/activate the profile pictures of my contacts/chats?

File an issue!

Reported on GitHub: — Windows built the local file URIs as file://C:\... instead of file:///C:/..., so every image read from disk silently fell back to a placeholder. Fixed in 0.14.0 (util::image_uri).

Hey man, creator of whatsapp-rust here. Also we are working in a similar thing a long time ago. It's a client that support calls, runs on web, windows, mac and linux. Everything backed by GPUI. Please take a look. I think both can learn from each other:

You guys rock. Thanks for making whatsapp-rust. Let's chat!

I just installed a native Spotify client (Spotifast) on my PC, and now there is a Native WhatsApp client aswell?! Fucking love u man

Around 15 years ago @tgalal was trying to do 3rd party Whatsapp client for Nokia's MeeGo project with Qt/QML. This thing brought back some good memories...

Will you ever attempt to rewrite Slack / M$Teams in Rust? Asking for a friend...

No, I don't use them. Feel free to do that!

plan on adding viewing status page and other stuff ?? thank you for the app, its wayy too fast, I was using prettyzap before this.

View status is on the right click context menu!

I'm on version 0.13.1 zapfast-git on linux. I dont see any view status option, to me it only shows pin, mute, info, copy number...

It shows the status inside the context menu

usou o projeto do joao?

Thanks for the development, I'm interested in creating one for Telegram, with the ability to log into your 3-4 accounts. Telegram uses a lot of RAM on a Mac, and this is my pain as a Telegram user.

love it, but there are some missing features, definitely going to contribute!

You changed my life man

lesgo. 😭😭😭

Finally, a native whatsapp client in Linux!

i absolutely loved it! whey better than the whatsapp desktop app for windows, but i have an issue, all media shows like that on the chat, somebody knows hows to solve this issue?

File an issue!

Will the flathub version be active any time soon?

HERÓI Mundial

Thank you!

but whatsapp expose a API for retrieving message? how you're fetching messages?

Curious about the backend — how are you communicating with WhatsApp under the hood? Are you using an existing Rust implementation of the WhatsApp Web protocol, or did you implement/reverse-engineer the protocol yourself?

It is burning ~90% cpu on @OmarchyLinux while sitting idle on a workspace I am not on. I am not submitting a pr on GitHub because it will just be my Claude results which may or may not be right. Thought I would share and thank you for the app!

@OmarchyLinux Try the latest version, 0.14, and let me know if my fix worked for you.

Thanks for this! I switched from ZapZap (1.3 GB RAM) to your app and I'm amazed at how efficient it is. Averaging 128 MB RAM is huge great work on the optimization. Testing it on Fedora 44 KDE and it runs beautifully. Really impressive stuff!

Awesome! Thanks!

I've noticed an issue where channel messages that has unknown title and individual chats are appearing together in the main chat list without any separation or distinction. Can you look this or known issue?

If only it supported calls,i use whatsapp mainly to call people.

If you can contribute a PR about that would be really appreciated!

finally a nice native whatsapp client, thanks :-)

Loved your spotify app !!!!

Thank you!

Thank you for the awesome app!

Just installed it and loving it! Thanks for sharing this great zapppping light speed whatsapp desktop app! so awesome to not need to use that slow web version anymore!

Yo the whatsapp web app is so trash its not even a Joke!

before I install.. here is my list of questions.. > Does it support calling? > Does the left bar collaps? > Does it have keyboard shortcuts? > Is it Hyprland optimised? I think these questions would be for a lot of poeple who use linux!

I think you can find out on the website or just install it!

But only this time: - No - Yes - Yes - What does that mean?

well.. the collapsible side bar seems to just remove it entirely rather than just minimize it (so I can still select different messages) the hyprland optimisation so it works perfectly with tiling managers so the app resizes properly and doesnt break. so I can have it in any orientation I need it to be the other questions you have answered.

Is it against meta policy?

please package for nix

fish: Unknown command: yay

i tested it, i think may be awesome if we can reply a message by double clicking the message or the row around it and click inside a conversation (in any place of a conversation) should automatically put the cursor in the "Type a message" input

👏 Probably lacks the surveillance/data harvesting “features” that the Meta client has, like stealing your Contacts/address book data. Server-side, The Borg will still harvest as much info as they can, of course. Can measures be taken to hide link preview data from them?

Yes yes yes. Good work. But. I guess, WhatsApp is mostly used on phones?

i love it but i do not want to see the channel chats mixed in with my dms and group chats, kind of annoying

great job! if I may ask how does it work considering api is not available? or maybe the're allowing it now?
