"Stop your crying! Or, I'll give you something to really cry about!" comes to mind for some reason.

core memory unlocked 🥹

"Get that look off your face before I knock it off" is another. Oh yeah, and "I'll knock you in to the middle of next week" just came back to me as well. Enjoy!

stop it, man. I was having a good day today 😅

Ha ha! I'll let you go with this last one....

This too. 😂

It worked just fine when I was a kid, especially if gramma was administering the corrective treatment.

They don't make em like they used to 😔

Facts.

Childhood trauma unlocked 😅😅

IKR 🥹

You must of had a mild case🤣 I was sent to the hall, which meant the paddle, more times than I can remember.

EXACTLY!!!! 😆

100% effective, I concur

1000% 👍

This only made it worse for me.

😅

Huh

My favorite was "stop crying or I will give you something to cry about".....

Growing up in the 70's & 80's, I caught the belt, ring or paddle enough that I thought twice about the stupid shit that ran through my head before acting on it. Also, playing dodge/football & smear the queer took a lot of the excess energy out of you.

Side effects may include: Usefulness to society, respect for elders, respect for authority, good grades, and common sense.

People confuse unfocused or badly behaved kids with ADHD. If you think hitting kids solves ADHD. It is like thinking you healed someone's sprained ankle by scaring them into walking on it painfully and them successfully limping out the room. Did you cure their foot? No.

😂😂 at my Catholic school, the nuns used a yard stick across your knuckle's or hands, it was VERY effective in most cases. If not you got sent to the principals office - wherein they'd wet your hands, soak the strap in water for a bit, then you'd really get the hint!

If this didn't work, the principal used to be waiting in his office like this

Absolutely Wonderful 👍👏i feel bad for this cry baby generation!!! We were taught to SHUT the fkc up & Study, have a job while in school, get good grades otherwise get punished.

Should see how it was handled in the 60's/70's, but then again we didn't have vaccine induced mental issues back then, just real misfits that got sorted quickly.

Then, there was always this!…..

More like the 80s...lol. As a parent in the 90s we would get called into meetings. Only the private schools would light your ass up with a paddle. Public schools...nah. They'd just pull parents out of a work day to whine instead of disciplining the kids.

Oh no.

My son was born in 1990 and has ADHD. I can confirm this method works well, and today he is a well adjusted adult and is expected to be out on parole within the next 4 years.

this got me to shut up

i wish i had my 4th grade teacher's wooden paddle i'd beat him in the face with it today. a'hole used to take out a boy who was autistic and beat him when he would act up. kid couldn't help it. back then no one knew what autism was. public schools gotta go. indoctrination camps to make children into good little obedient slaves. thank god for the rebels.

The smart man learns from his own mistakes, the wise man learns from the mistakes of others. I was a wise ADHD kid, like the third boy.

Maybe a few laps around the football field would be less abusive and expend the energy the kids build up by sitting still in classrooms for hours on end when we were not made to work that way. Just a thought.

@the_real_minamu At a parent/teacher conference, the teacher said I was disruptive and needed medication. My mom asked for my grade? Teacher said an A. My mom said, “Perhaps if you made it more challenging for him he wouldn’t be disruptive”. Not sure that was fair, but I wanted to high 5 my mom!

Hahaha! this is actually biblical. You know all those preachers that play victim because the people around them won’t accept truth and they get mocked persecuted and hated? God warned them, that the 10 Commandments are not burdensome. And if you’re gonna whine about keeping God’s Commandments and the faith of Jesus Christ, then God’s gonna give you something to cry about. Some some kids just need more attention, like sitting in a corner watching you do your daily tasks because you can’t trust them out of your sight. The last thing you do when they’re seeking attention in selfish and petulant ways is give them more attention. I married a woman with five kids, and two of them toddlers, and all they wanted was my attention. When they realized that doing the right thing got them more attention then they started doing the right thing more often. Children need boundaries, if you have unclear boundaries, then they’re going to keep testing them. when I was a kid, I got a boot in the ass whenever I overstepped my boundaries. But raising stepchildren, you have to find a different way. Once I realized that all they wanted was my attention, I learned how to use it to gain their obedience. Which I used to teach them self-control..

@SumGurl9 When I was in elementary school in the 70's, there was a teacher who used a 1 meter wooden ruler to point things out or open a can of whoopass. Not one parent objected to this.

I don't know if it's exactly healthy to take a child that's full of energy and life and make them sit still and " study " all day long. I almost imagine that would stunt growth.

so True ehhehehe

This "worked" for me by dropping my grades to D's. At least if they thought I was hopeless they would leave me alone lol

They put me on riddilin 98

Ah, so Boomers are also responsible for the mental health crisis plaguing the generations after them.

fear and amphetamines are basically the same. its stress for the body and mind. thats why both work. giving kids those pills is hitting them without hitting them. but at least they arent annoying am i right?

Worked for me for 50 years! Now very late diagnosed, all that GenX resilience built up in childhood and adulthood to date is serving me well to take the new info I have about my wiring and smash the sh!t out of the rest of my life! 🙌 ☺️ One teacher used to throw a big wooden board rubber at me #ouchy

This worked very well in the 1960’s and 70’s
