My dad's cousin died from this. His dad was ahead of his two boys in a truck + he/his brother in karts following close behind. They were on the way to an unfinished neighborhood to practice. My dad's cousins randomly took off/ran out ahead to get there first and crossed an intersection without looking. He ended up under a 16 year old girl's vehicle. To make the unbearable grief of losing a child worse, the girls parents sued (and won) against the dad for the emotional damage of killing someone. Cost them a fortune on top of losing a child.

@ominous_optic I bought a shifter kart once, knowing nothing about them. Apparently there are Pro races and pro drivers for kart racing. The kart I got was a spare for a Pro racer. It was so fast it did 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds spinning tires all the way.
