Give them a pre-paid debit card. Explain when it's down to zero, they can't use it anymore. They catch on quick.

You're a parent. You are literally responsible for her, and for shaping her personality. Parents need to take ownership.

No, lady. Parents who give their teenagers credit cards have lost their minds... And their money, apparently!

When the parents act like teenagers and moan on social media it’s not surprising that their daughter thinks the way she does. Plenty of practical ways to limit her spending or educate her about finances, but instead make a video. You’re the child in this instance. 🙄

Why would a parent think 200$ would be enough for 4 day weekend ? Thats what i don’t understand

Turn the fucking card OFF! Fucking soft ass parents

My girls would have never done this. By the time they were 16 they had a good understanding of money. When they were in middle school, in January, I would give them a VISA gift card preloaded with enough money to buy clothes for the year. The only rule was if they bought something I considered inappropriate the item would be donated and they would be out the money. They also understood I would not be spending anymore of my money on their clothes. It taught them how to handle money.

Who sends their 16 year old daughter for 4 days and on her birthday on top of it

Am I the only one who thinks 16 is too young to go away for a weekend with friends and no adult supervision? My daughter is 15 and there’s absolutely no way I’m letting her do anything like this next year.

Well of course she used the card for food. First mistake she had access to your credit card and second was that you think in this day and age that $200 was enough for four day weekend.

The people losing their mind is parents giving their kids access to their credit card like this.

You gave her money & a credit card & expected her not to use both. You are a pair of fools

This is not on the teen; this is really bad financial parenting. Step 1: When that first transaction hit the card, they should have called the teen (not wait until "later that night") and repeated the "rules" to her. Step 2: Monitor the card for additional spending. Step 3: If another transaction hits, call CapitalOne and cancel the card (without telling her) and let the entitled brat get declined at the register. Step 4: When the teen calls about the declined transaction (she totally will), repeat the rules, and plainly state that she has lost the privilege of having a card. She will never do it again after being mortified at the register. What the parental can giveth, the parental can taketh away!!! I had one kid try this with me, she never pulled a stunt like that again - nor did any of her siblings! MommaC don't play!

I am with the teenager, need some dineros for fun. Besides, how’s 50 dollars per day gonna cover at least 3 daily meals when on holidays?

But somehow they don’t blame themselves for raising such an entitled brat? Thry could have placed a hold on that credit card but it seems they didn’t. Daughter is a parasite but parents are willing host victim.

You should've told her to go earn the spending money instead of just giving it to her on top of a credit card. Here's a tip. Give your kids a DEBIT card with $10 on it. If there's a genuine emergency, they can call you & THEN you can deposit the money to cover it.

Guess what, it’s your fault.

Parents fault. Teach your kids about money early. Watch out for their friends. And never give a CC to a teenager.

Lady... You've lost your mind. We don't learn the value of money until we pay for it first (earn it) with our own labor (mental or physical).

I won’t let my daughter get any of my credit card numbers. My wife has made that mistake and has to cancel her cards.

So the world has changed that much that a 16 year old gets to away away for an entire weekend with other teenagers. The money is the sole focus I’m so confused. 🤔

That’s on the parents. Probably never been told “no” and never punished. Why does she have access to your credit card anyway?

This is the parent's fault. Why would you give her the credit card? I will say $200 over four days would be spent very fast. Eating out is expensive.

That woman speaking of 200dollars as it was 1000dollars wth. We gave 200 dollars for FUN,FOOD,WEEKEND,SOMETHING TO BUY ETC ETC BLAH BLAH

I don't want to! 🤣🤣

To be fair I spend like at least 300 on just a day trip, but since it’s not her money she should have listened to her parents. I’m assuming their daughter isn’t paying for a hotel or it’s already accounted for otherwise $200 for four days is just ridiculous.

Dear Parents: It is YOUR job to correct what society has incorrectly taught your children. Do NOT rely on the schools, churches, or governments to teach them. That is your job and yours alone.

$200 for four days of eating while on a trip? Do these parents not know how much it is to eat out for FOUR DAYS AT RESTAURANTS? GMAFB.

First of all, we were working at 16. We couldn't just run up and ask our parents because they would tell us to get a job. Secondly, we didn't have access to our parents's credit cards. She feels that way because how y'all raised her to be.

All you have to do is locked the card.

My teenagers would have never been so brave and stupid 🤦🏻♀️🤣

Give them $X worth of Bitcoin every 4 years & let them figure out how to manage money. They’ll learn real fast that saving is better than spending. @SwissHodler

Don’t u just love it when parents that failed to educate their children come on here complaining how those children don’t know shit about life ?? 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

That card would be locked before that conversation was finished.

Well... You know It's not the teenagers' fault, right? It's on us... The parents
