So I didn’t discover Red Dwarf until I was serving in Korea. A fellow soldier let me read his Red Dwarf book.. 24 years later he was the best man in my wedding. Every time I see him I shout RIMMMMMERRR! Rip Rob, you brought so many together with laughter.

It was late primary school/early high school formation of senses of humour for thousands of kids who loved the show and the characters because it switched us on to comedy writing at such an early age. Now older we're still smeg heads, and some are right dwayne dibley's! RIP.

If nothing else he taught us to say " Smerrrr Heeeee". I also think of the line from "Better than Life" Cat "Wow!!! My stomach has been pumped and now I'm hungry. Hey, there you are! Hey man, I'm so hungry, I just have to eat." Lister "Shhhhh. Not now, man. Rimmer's dad's died." Cat "I'd prefer chicken."

It will always have no equal

To this day the Nodnol (backwards) episode (not sure if that's the real name) is one of the greatest episodes of TV comedy ever. When Cat goes to take a dump. Will just leave it there. The 'bar room tidy' is also classic.

I still frequently use the phrases: "small off-duty Czechoslovakian traffic warden" and "a yellow fruit that you unzip and eat the white bits"... and I don't care who it annoys!

One of the first "adult comedies" I got to watch and still to this day one of my favourites. Absolutely love all the characters and I read one or two of the novelisations. Such a sad loss.

I love later in the show when Kryten is trying to call Lister a smeg-head and it comes out as “smmmmeeeeeeee-hhhe”.

A-freaking-men. I found the original novel in a book store where I lived in the US, devoured it, then found out RD was coming to our local PBS affiliate. Watched series 1-6 religiously after taping each episode. Perfection.

Red Dwarf is the best tv comedy of all time

I religiously watched the show as a kid on my little bedroom TV with an aerial you had to keep moving around to keep the signal. This one hit me surprisingly hard.

I absolutely love the expertly written programming joke in this scene. Telling Kryten to concentrate after breaking his programming reset his program and restarted his auto-censor unit.

Same. I was hooked after watching the first episode back in primary school.

This was my favourite programme of my teens. The only one I’d rush home to watch.

‘I’d go with berry’ ‘But I’d be thinking of Wilma’ Without question the best start to a sitcom episode.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched red dwarf

So much so! All 3 of my now adult kids can quote Red Dwarf fluently, and I am now working on getting my grandson to watch it! Quotes make their way into everyday conversation, “it’s me plan, I planned it” and “I feel like I’m having a baby” can be used in so many situations.
